Proposition: “ Exams are important and mandatory”

Good morning, Esteemed members of Jury and august audience!

This is …………..of grade …………… representing the ………………… …….House standing here as a proposer of my team that is against the resolution, “ Exams are important and mandatory”

Opening Statement:

Let me at the outset say that a school is meant to carve out the personality and character of the student but not meant to pressurize him to do something that drains away his mental, physical, emotional and intellectual energies. We strongly oppose the concept of exams as they make the life of a student unpleasant. It is the exams which give rise to tension, nervousness, mental exhaustion, stress, physical illnesses, fear, low confidence, inferiority complex and what not. The list is endless. We are here to argue that a school without exams shall be a heaven wherein a child can explore his true talents and abilities without any fear or inhibition. I rest my case. Thank you!

 Argument-1: Exams treats everyone equally.

Here is my argument,  Everyone is a genius but if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid. Exams runs on a belief system that every student must think in the same way, act in the same way, write in the same way and respond in the same way and secure marks in the same way. Don’t you think that this is killing the very idea that every individual is unique in his own way and must be treated accordingly? ! What do you have to say about this?

Argument-2: The purpose of exams is getting diluted.

Here is my counter argument, Exams are meant to promote the students to the next level and higher level as my opponent team strongly believes. But contradictory to this why is there a concept of reservations in our society and backed up by intellectuals and the government itself? Reservations itself is against the concept of testing and examining students in a fair way. Don’t you think the purpose of exams is getting diluted and murdered in that context? What do you have to say about this?

Argument-3: Exams are pushing the students to their limits

Exams are for our well-being. But on the flip side, why are students committing suicides and why are there cases of depression and anxiety issue among students? Don’t you think the culprit is the exams itself? Aren’t exams pushing the students to their limits and taking away the very noble purpose of education!? What do you have to say about this misfortune?

Closing Statement: More meaningful education system.

In conclusion, while examinations are often seen as a measure of intelligence and success, they actually confine a student’s true potential within marks and grades. Education should be a joyful journey of discovery, not a race driven by fear of failure. A school that nurtures curiosity, creativity, and confidence—without the constant burden of exams—can truly bring out the best in every learner. When students are encouraged to learn for understanding rather than for scoring, they grow into confident, capable, and compassionate individuals. Hence, a school without exams is not a dream, but a vision of a healthier, happier, and more meaningful education system.

Thank you!

A Letter to God-CBQA

L:1-A Letter to God Competency-based Questions & Answers 1. People get support from family and friends during bad times. How does Lencho’s family behave after the harvest is ruined? Lencho’s family behaves with quiet acceptance and courage when the hailstorm destroys their entire harvest. Though they are deeply worried, they do not panic or blame anyone.  The family shows unity and courage in misfortune; instead of complaining, they remain dependent on Lencho’s strength and hope. They even supported his decision to write a letter to God. Most of the families would criticize such an act of starting a correspondence to God and would judge them as lunatic or insane. Lencho’s family trusted Lencho’s decisions and stood by him even when everything seemed hopeless. Their behaviour reflects how rural families often support one another during crises. Their calmness and faith show that strong family support is the greatest comfort in bad times. His wife let him understand the imp...
