Speaking-Zero Hunger

                                                          ZERO HUNGER

I believe that students like me have the most powerful weapon at their disposal, which can transform the worst situation into the best one. I feel that I have a greater obligation towards this world, as I cannot see myself surviving while people around me suffer due to various reasons.

Hunger is the worst enemy of a human. Tackling this enemy needs the concerted effort of the people around the world, be it governments, educationists, social workers, students, scholars, philanthropists, politicians, or the common people who are empathetic towards people dying due to hunger and malnutrition.

I would, with this weapon, raise awareness among people about problems like hunger and malnutrition and how people around the world are dying just because they have no proper food while the rest of the world seems to be having a serious goal of wasting the food.

Such awareness could let the people become empathetic and considerate to the needs of the worst-affected people in places that are hit by scarcity of food due to various reasons. One such reason being poverty. Ensuring that people in poverty-affected places get at least two meals a day could save many lives from dying.

Another way of ending hunger globally is to ensure that agriculture is connected to technology. The use of the technology in agriculture has ensured that agriculturists can connect with the global network of farmers, agronomists, businesses, and other service providers to stay up-to-date on the latest crop cultivation practices. When small-scale farmers are helped in connecting with the tools, sustainable agriculture can be maintained for country’s food security. The agricultural sector today requires the integration of sophisticated technologies such as temperature and moisture sensors, robots, GPS technology, and aerial images, to meet the elevated demand for newer approaches in agriculture.

Enormous amount of food wastage has been a major concern across the world. We need to make sure that enough food is grown throughout the world through proper agricultural practices and wastage is minimized so that food that is grown doesn’t go in vain while millions of people are suffering from hunger.

Lencho’s family trusted Lencho’s decisions and stood by him even when everything seemed hopeless. Their behaviour reflects how rural families often support one another during crises. Their calmness and faith show that strong family support is the greatest comfort in bad times. His wife let him understand the imp...
