You will hear some extracts from different news bulletins. As you listen, tick the correct option in each case. 

 NEWS ITEM 1. 

Mount Sinabung, a volcano in Indonesia's North Sumatra province, erupted 24 times on Friday, shooting a column of ash about 4,000 meters to the sky and forcing further evacuation,an official said. The 2,457-meter Mount Sinabung has rumbled to life since September after being dormant for 400 years.

Researchers in Washington have developed a new battery component that can allow electric vehicles to travel longer distances before needing to charge.  The novel design for a critical part of the battery has been shown to significantly extend the technology's lifespan, bringing it closer to commercial use.  A hybrid anode developed at the U.S. Department of Energy's Pacific Northwest National Laboratory could quadruple the life of lithium-sulphur batteries, researchers said.

Two persons were killed on the spot when a roadways bus rammed into a stationary truck.  Amidst dense fog in Masoli area here, police said on Friday. The bus was going to Gondar from Lucknow when it collided with the truck near Nivla village in Masoli area in Barabanki. As many as 10 others injured in the accident were rushed to the hospital.

Aspirin is generally known to be useful in preventing heart attacks and strokes but now researchers believe the humble aspirin could also hold the key to warding off dementia and cancer.  The claim has been made at the launch of the largest ever study into the health benefits of the everyday medicine which has long been thought of as a health booster.  A study of 15,000 people aged over 70 will be the most extensive clinical trial on the use of aspirin to prevent disease in the elderly, the Daily Mail reported.

The South Pacific nation of Tonga was lashed by a powerful cyclone, Lan, on Saturday, destroying homes and ripping roofs from churches and other public buildings in the populous northern islands.  However, there were no immediate reports of loss of life or injuries.The Category 5 storm cyclone that also brought heavy rain was later downgraded from the top of the scale of destructive cyclones to Category 4 with gusts up to 250 km per hour.
