Street Theatre Script: “Voice of the Forest”
Theme: Awareness
about tribal life and their role in protecting nature
Target
Group: Class 7 students
Duration:
6–8 minutes
Opening – Attention Grabber
(Students enter clapping,
beating a small drum, or stamping rhythmically.)
All together (chanting loudly):
“Listen, listen, dear people,
The forest is crying, it’s not a fable!
Trees are falling, rivers dry,
Tribals shout – hear their cry!”
(Group freezes. One steps
forward.)
Speaker 1:
We are here not to entertain, but
to awaken!
Speaker 2:
We are here not to act, but to
remind!
All together:
“Wake up, before it’s too late!
Save our forest, save our fate!”
Scene
1 – Who Are the Tribals?
(Three students dressed as
tribals come forward with baskets or sticks.)
Tribal 1:
We are the sons and daughters of
the forest.
Tribal 2:
The trees are our friends, the
rivers our mothers, the animals our neighbours.
Tribal 3:
We take only what we need, never more.
Chorus (behind them,
chanting):
“Live with nature, it's our future!
Learn from tribals, they are nobles!”
Speaker 3 (addressing
audience):
Did you know that India has over 700 tribal communities?
They protect our forests better than
anyone else!
Scene 2 – Message of Awareness
Speaker 4:
These so-called “simple people” are the real protectors of biodiversity.
Speaker 5:
But we call them “backward”! We call them illiterate! We treat them as a burden. Isn’t that unfair?
Tribal 2:
We know how to live without harming the Earth.
Can you city people do the same?
Chorus (in rhythm, clapping):
“They live and let live,
They thrive and let thrive
Learn their way, or we have to pay
Scene 3 – The Call to Action
Environmental Student:
Tribals teach us harmony, sharing, and respect.
We must protect their land and their rights.
All (raising fists):
“Respect the tribes,
Protect their lives!
Save the forest,
Save our home!”
(Drumbeat; group repeats faster, louder.)
“Save the tribes! Save the trees!
Save our Earth — if you please!”
Final Message
Speaker 1:
Development is needed, yes — but not at the cost of destruction.
Speaker 2:
When the last tree falls, the last river dries, the last tribal is displaced —
We will realize, too late, that we can’t eat money!
All together (final chant):
“We are the voice of the forest,
We are the sound of the Earth,
Together we can make a change —
A cleaner, greener rebirth!”
(End with rhythmic clapping or a short tribal dance step while chanting the slogan.)
